Springtime is here!

Springtime is here, which means it’s time to do some spring cleaning of your kitchen.  Have you ever really taken a few moments to see what is in your kitchen cabinets or refrigerator?

Do your cabinets reflect you and your health?  The old saying is true…. You are what you eat!!! Let’s start with the first step.  Clean out your cabinets and refrigerator and throw away the junk food.  Then refill them with nutritionally valuable foods.  What are these foods your might ask?

  1. Salmon is filled with omega 3 fatty acids that help prevent heart disease.  Protein is also found in salmon, which is ideal for building muscle and trimming fat.

  6. Flax is a nutty flavored seed bursting with calcium, iron, antioxidant and cholesterol lowering omega 3 fatty acids.
  7. Spinach is loaded with fiber, calcium, and beta-carotene, which help the immune system health and good vision.
  8. Yogurt has all the benefits of milk plus active cultures that boost the number of germ fighting bacteria along the intestinal wall.  This reduces the risk of the common cold.  Calcium also increases fat burning while keeping you satisfied longer which promotes weight loss.  .
  9. Almonds are great for heart digestive system, and skin.  These little nuts are high in protein, fiber, vitamin E, and polyunsaturated fat to keep you satisfied all day long.
