So many of us skip it because we are running out the door or are just not hungry.  Breakfast is crucial to our bodies to turn on our brain, to burn fat, and to provide energy for the day. First breakfast nutrition tips is to includes a carbohydrate, protein, and a fat.

Our brain’s preferred fuel source is carbohydrates.  Carbohydrates are simple, easy, and quick to digest.  Choose a complex carbohydrate to consume fiber for a healthy bonus.  Fiber helps slow our digestive system down making us fuller longer.  Protein is harder to digest than carbohydrates and takes longer time to digest.  Protein will fill our bodies up so we are not eating all day long.  Fat is extremely important because fat burn fat so we need to consume essential fatty acids that our bodies need to keep it moving and to burn fat throughout the day.

Breakfast should be consumed within 30 minutes of waking up.  This will start your metabolism burning fat right away.  Try to have breakfast before coffee or tea.  It is better to have food in your belly before you jump start your body with caffeine.

Always eat a carbohydrate with a protein.  Carbohydrates are quick to digest and burn very quickly.  Slow down the carbohydrate digestion with a protein.

Don’t forget a small amount of fat with your breakfast to keep your body satisfied until your next meal or snack.

Yogurt With Berries– 1 cup of Greek yogurt, 1 cup of blueberries, 1/4 cup of almonds

Eggs and Oats– 2 eggs, 1/2 cup of steel cut oats, 1 tbsp. of peanut butter

Cottage Cheese with fruit– 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 1 cup of berries, 2 tbsp. granola
